U16 GIRLS WIN GRENFELL MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT

PANTHERS GIRLS GO UNDEFEATED IN NOBLE COMMUNITY EVENT

PANTHERS GIRLS FINISH SEASON WITH A WIN

The Panthers U16 girls' team were invited to participate in the annual Grenfell Memorial Basketball tournament at Kensington Leisure Centre in June. This community-focused tournament was founded in 2019 to commemorate the Grenfell Tower tragedy, which sadly saw the loss of 72 lives due to a devastating fire in June 2017. The tournament not only honours the memory of those who perished but also brings together the community in a spirit of solidarity and support, promoting resilience and hope through sports and collective action.

Founded by the London Knights, who also compete against Panthers in the Community Basketball League, the tournament featured 4 U16 teams from across London who competed across pool play to determine who would be crowned champions of the noble community event.

Once on court, the Panthers were able to assert their dominance against the host London Knights girls teams and also a community select team called 0-10 Foundation.  Behind the free-flowing scoring of Nyah Brown, Narini 'Naz' Kuwana and stellar defence of De'elle Whyte and Sapphire Guidolin-Duncan, the Panthers were able to pull away from the competition in all games, winning by an average margin of +18 points per game.

For her efforts, Nyah Brown was crowned MVP of the girls tournament, securing both the tournament trophy and tournament MVP for the Panthers.
